How to decorate like the “It girls”
I feel like everyone has these aesthetic rooms, every “it” girl has amazing style, decor, and more. Its time for us to update our rooms this year and do it cost effectively.
Color Scheme is key
If you haven’t noticed from my blog, social medias, and style, I am pink obsessed, so it was not very difficult to choose a color scheme. I would choose one or two colors to focus on and then you can incorporate little accent colors. I chose pinks and hints of purples, but I understand that not everyone loves a full pink room so I added some color combos for rooms that are gorgeous.
Pink- Greens, purple, yellows, whites
Green- blues, neutrals, pink
Neutrals- greens, whites, blush tones
What’s your Inspo?
I know that most people have Pinterest, and trust me you are going to need it when planning out a space. You can find inspiration pictures for decor or fashion on the @Khaurafab Pinterest (linked below in the icons). Take some time and scroll through and find your fav room decor ideas or find some room Inspo from an “it” girl you already love.
Layout
Try choosing a layout for your room that feels natural, spacious, and chic. Lets say you want to put your bed by the door, there is more of a chance of this disrupting your sleep if the door is closer to the head of your bed. I would also suggest having a wardrobe, drawers, chest, or some type of table across from your bed to create more storage, and give you more access to decorating with paintings, a tv, or simply give you more storage.
Unique pieces
Always look out for unique pieces whether that means furniture, paintings, frames, candles… They will all look great in your room, sometimes they can be an odd shape, color, or just something cool that speaks to you. This makes your room more unique and personal to you. I would suggest looking for Inspiration, being on the look out for pieces, checking thrift stores, consignment, or taking things into your own hands and doing a DIY for what you want.
MEASURE
Measuring is essential, check measurements of everything before and while decorating your space. I have made so many careless mistakes because I just assumed something would fit in my room, all to have it either not fit, or look way bigger/smaller than they did online. Measure everything out and make sure you can fit everything well enough to give your self a good path.
Paint
While I am allowed to paint my walls whatever color I want, whenever, I understand that most people especially renters can’t exactly do this so there are some other options you can take such as removable wallpaper, or placing art work on the wall.
You can also get some furniture paint or spray paint and take some furniture outside or open a window and give your furniture a new look. This is a great way to add color, re vamp something you already have, and be cost effective.
Vanity
I have a million random products, no matter how much I clean things out or re-organize I always feel like I have too many things laying around so make sure to have a lot of storage and stay organized, I feel so much better in my space when it’s clean (even though I’m not amazing at keeping it that way). But when everything has a place or a little hiding space it makes things easier.
